It's curtain time for the greatest show in Kansas — harvest! Cutting is getting under in the big wheat counties like Sumner, but in Marion County, the big reels will begin to turn next week.

Feebee Smith and Shirley Jo Hett unpacked 200 soup bowls at Marion Municipal Auditorium Friday. The soup bowls are gifts from KanzAton Jr. Club, Marion. The project was financed by the club's annual salad luncheon and supported by the Marion PRIDE program. The new bowls are heat-proof and crack- and stain-resistant.

Mrs. Almus Gantz, Marion, is this week's Vagabond Weekend winner. She was presented the trip by John Loomis at Marion National Bank.

Eric Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Meyer, Marion, will serve as a congressional intern in the office of Rep. Garner E. Shriver, R-Kan., for five weeks this summer. Meyer is a junior at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, majoring in journalism and pre-law.

Lori Harris and Deana Forsyth, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Forsyth, attended a gymnastics camp at West Texas State University, Canyon, Texas, June 10-15. A talent contest was held and Lori won first place with a tap dance routine.

Diann Wiens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiens of Marion, has been hired as Barber County home economics agent. Diann will be stationed in Medicine Lodge.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlehuber took their daughter, Anita, to Los Angeles June 4 where she joined the Continental Singers for a tour which will take them across the southern states to the east coast. They will leave Boston, Mass., July 3 and give concerts in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Holland, returning to the states August 4.
