Merle Decker

Farmer/rancher Merle Decker, 60, of Hillsboro, died Oct. 2, 2004, at Hillsboro.

Born April 8, 1944, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Harry and Suzie (Schmidt) Decker.

On Oct. 18, 1980, he married Kathy Penner Flaming at Hillsboro.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Hillsboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carey and Carol Flaming of Lakewood, Colo., Kris and Carolyn Decker of Matthews, N.C., and Bryce and Tammy Flaming of Benton; three daughters, Tammy McEvoy and her husband Tom of Emporia, Susan Decker and Tammy Just of Ottawa; two brothers, John Decker of rural Durham and Earl Decker of Newton; two sisters, Jaraine Redger of rural Durham and Carolyn Duggan of Hutchinson; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. R. Laney Kuhn officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
