MES Fun Night is a success
More than 160 students participated Friday in the Marion Elementary School Fun Night. Approximately 50 parents also participated with their children with 100 people spending the entire night.
The event started with a sack lunch followed with activities.
Moon walk, Frisbee golf, water balloon volleyball, and karaoke were among the varied activities.
In addition to the fun activities, the Marion Police Department and Marion County Health Department provided valuable training and information.
Police officers offered a bicycle and scooter safety class and obstacle course. The health department supplied the police department with new bicycle helmets which were given away.
During the coming weeks, Marion police officers will be giving McDonald's gift certificates to children wearing their bicycle helmets.
The health department told the children and parents about fire safety and 911 calling.
Following the activities, participants enjoyed ice cream and watched movies. Those who spent the night went home at 8 a.m. Saturday.
