MHS boys overcome Herington

Marion High School boys' varsity basketball team defeated Herington Friday in a Cottonwood Valley League thriller, 62-54.

It marked Marion's 11th win for the season.

The Warriors hit 12 of 16 free-throws, 75 percent shooting, in the win. Herington hit six of seven from the line.

Marion had a dramatic lead in two-point goals, 22 compared to 15 for Herington, but the Railers hit six three-point shots.

Robert Verbic led Marion with 18 points, followed by Braxton Skiles, 15; Brian Bina, 12; and Jason Matz, 10.

Verbic was most of Marion's output from the free-throw line, hitting eight of 10.
