MHS boys place seventh at Lindsborg
Marion High School track team competed April 16 at the Viking Invitational track and field meet in Lindsborg. The Warrior boys finished seventh compiling 30 points, while the Warrior girls finished ninth with 25.5 points.
Steven Boone's 159 feet, seven inch-toss in the javelin earned him the top spot in the event and made him the lone first-place finisher for the Marion team. Boone also competed in the shot put and discus, claiming third in the discuss with a throw of 139-1.
For the girls' team, senior Jessica DeForest finished second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:58.89 and third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:56.59. Senior Sara Regier and sophomore Toni Gordon did their part in the discus, finishing third and fourth, with throws of 103-8 and 103-2 respectively.
Centre
MHS track teams participated Thursday in the Centre Quint, held at the Marion track.
Both boys' and girls' teams placed third.
Other teams were Centre, Burrton, Hillsboro, and Fairfield.
For the boys' division, Jimmy Shipman was the only Marion competitor to bring home a first-place finish. He had a toss of 42 feet, one inch in the shot put.
Tedra Eis was the only first-place finisher for the girls, with a leap of 4-2 in the high jump.
