MHS Class of 1953 holds 50th reunion years ago

Marion High School class of 1953 met Old Settlers' Day weekend, Sept. 26-28, to celebrate 50 years since graduation.

Friday evening, 15 members of the class and their spouses, met at the home of Bob and Betty Seibel in Hillsboro. They had a great time getting reacquainted over refreshments.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, 18 members and guests gathered at the home of Theodora and Harry Koslowsky for coffee and donuts.

They viewed a replica of the Pleasant View country schoolhouse built by the Koslowskys and toured their lovely flower garden. They also decorated the hayrack and rode in the 11 a.m. parade.

Country Dreams Bed and Breakfast was the scene of their Saturday evening banquet. Theodora Koslowsky decorated the tables with flowers from her garden, as well as Marion Warrior favors, class motto placards, and yellow roses, the class flower.

Michael Brodhead, president of the senior class, welcomed those present and led roll call. Anita Sly, secretary, read letters or told about phone calls from those not present.

Theodora Koslowsky conducted a memorial service for those who died during high school and since graduation.

Copies of the Y-Teen song were passed out and sung by the ladies. Diana Warner played a piano solo and Theodora Koslowsky and Anita Sly sang a song on "growing old!"
