MHS Class of 1983 plans reunion years ago

The Marion High School class of 1983 is planning its 20th anniversary reunion Old Settlers' Day weekend.

MHS-'83 and other graduating classes ending in the numeral three or eight will meet during the annual OSD festival.

Class of '83 members plan to attend the Warrior grudge battle Friday evening on the gridiron at Cottonwood Falls. The game begins at 7 p.m., which will be the final meeting of Marion and Chase County, as the schools will be in different leagues next year.

Following the game, Linda (Robinson) Carlson will host an open house for classmates at her home, 1311 E. Weldon in Marion.

At 10:30 a.m. Saturday the class will gather in Jex Addition to board their float to ride in the parade which starts promptly at 11 a.m.. Marty Kroupa will be the driver. Each classmate is reminded to wear a reunion T-shirt.

After lunch on their own, members will attend the games in Central Park at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. the class will be recognized at the gazebo in Central Park.

A social hour will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Marion Country Club followed by a catered meal at 6:30 p.m.

Patio dancing will begin at 9:30 p.m., sponsored by Marion Country Club. Admission will be by coupon.

Lori (Endres) Kirkpatrick will answer questions and receive reservations at her home, 968 Quail Creek, Peabody. Other members of the committee are Doug Kjellin and Jenny (McGuire) Westerman.

The cost of the meal is $12 per person. T-shirts may be ordered from Kirkpatrick, or wear those from the reunion five years ago.
