MHS competes at Halstead

The Marion track team competed Friday at the Conrad Nightingale Invite. The Warrior boys came away with a fifth-place finish out of the 17 teams that competed in the event.

James Davis sailed away with a first-place finish during the day, by vaulting 13 feet in the boys' pole vault, while Torey Hett finished first in the boys' 3200-meter run with a time of 10:26.5.

Zac Ewert finished behind Hett with a time of 10:45.1 for a second-place finish and finished third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:53.9. Gavin Moore finished sixth in the same event with a time of 4:59.9

Joel Versch bounded his way to two third-place finishes in the hurdles. In the 110-meter hurdles, Versch finished in a time of 15.9 seconds and in the 300-meter hurdles finished in 43.47 seconds.

Calvin Riggs finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.25 seconds and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.59 seconds.

Steven Boone added a fifth-place finish in the javelin with a heave of 160'6", while Alan Vogel turned in a sixth-place performance in the shot put.

On the girls' side, Megan Moore took third in the javelin with a throw of 118'6". Shawna Hett finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 8'6" to round out those who placed individually for the girls.

The 4x800-meter relay of Alissa Vogel, Toni Gordon, Johanna Pape, and Jessica DeForest finished sixth with a time of 11:25.3 seconds.

Both the Warrior girls' and boys' teams took first at the Marion Quintangular track meet Tuesday afternoon at home.

The girls edged out the nearest competing team by 22 points to take home their first meet win of the year.

The boys blew away the competition scoring almost 100 more points than the next closest team.
