MHS debate places seventh in Lyons
Marion High School debaters Christie Coleman and Colton Olsen defeated teams from Sacred Heart, Garden City, and Halstead to place seventh Saturday at the Lyons invitational debate tournament.
Coleman was tabbed as the top speaker in each of the five rounds she debated. Olsen was ranked second in one round.
Justin Herzet and Chris Guetersloh also debated for Marion, with Herzet being rated second in three rounds.
The common topic for this year's debate season focuses on methods to substantially increase participation in one or more of the country's national service programs.
