MHS debate team successful at Wamego
Marion High School debaters competed Oct. 11 in the Wamego Invitational Open (advanced) Tournament and placed sixth out of 32 teams.
Kevin Billbe and Zach Helmstead placed sixth and received medals. They defeated Riley County, Rock Creek, and Manhattan.
Billbe was the #1 speaker in two rounds. Helmstead was the #1 speaker in one round.
Jon Nesser and Jake Cochran defeated Rossville and Manhattan twice. Nesser was the #1 speaker in all four rounds.
Nesser and Cochran tied for sixth place but missed medals due to opposition points.
Jake Bredemeier also debated in one round.
Kara Druse and Elisha Hokanson served as timekeepers. Rebekah Hubbard represented Marion as a stand-by judge.
