MHS debaters compete at Halstead

Marion High School debate team members Clay Riggs and Jake Bredemeier competed Saturday at the Halstead Debate Tournament.

The boys placed 18th out of 38 teams, defeating Augusta and Wichita Trinity. Their only loss of the day was to first-place team, Buhler.

Riggs was the #1 speaker in two rounds, Bredemeier was the #2 speaker in one round.

Elisha Hokanson was timekeeper.

Debaters will compete Saturday at Emporia High School.

Veterans invited to

CES program Friday

A special program will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Centre Elementary School to honor war veterans.

Students in kindergarten through fourth grade will sing patriotic songs, and the high school choir will sing, "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Members of the community are invited to attend. Veterans will be recognized, and refreshments will be served to all guests.
