MHS forensics place fifth in state competition
Marion High School forensics team members placed fifth Saturday in the State Champs Competition at Wichita East High School. Forty-one schools competed.
Chelsea Arnhold and Briana Vogel advanced to the semi-finals.
After advancing to the final round, Joe Svitak was named state champion in prose, Justin Brookens placed second in prose, and Joe Svitak and Tim Schuler were second in duet acting.
Those who competed in the competition were Ive Eddy, Amanda Steiner, Megan Whitaker, Joe Svitak, Tim Schuler, Sarah Davidson, Chelsea Arnhold, Briana Vogel, Justin Brookens, Nikki Moody, Trevor Jones, Stacey Bowman, Megan Helmstead, and Renae Lundgren.
Those who participated in the state festival brought home four I ratings and one II rating:
Michelle Miesse, I, prose; Patrick Becker, I, solo serious; Ashley Secrest, I, solo humorous; Rachel Davidson, I, oration; and Christine Schwartz, II, oration.
