MHS graduation is Sunday
Marion High School Class of 2002, will graduate 34 students Sunday.
More than one-third of the class are designated as honor students, for maintaining high academic performance throughout high school.
Commencement is at 4 p.m. in the MHS Gym.
Class members are Gregory Wayne Bowman, Andrew John Brookens, Brent Richard Cleeton, Kelsey Landon Craig, Jason Wade Davis, Keith Aaron Dudley, Amy Louise Goentzel, Crystal L. Hager, Amanda ReAn Hoffman, Stephanie Anne Hoffman, Tamra Leigh Holub, Christopher D. Janzen, Stephanie Dawn Jensen, Rebecca Nichole Kukuk, Lisa Dyan Loveless, Christina Marie McCarty, Jeffrey Ryan Moody, Cory Ray Nelson, Jessica Sue Ottensmeier, Maggie Nicole Powers, Kelly Christine Robinson, William James Scriven, Dainne Reanne Shipman, Braxton Patrick Skiles, Jared Arthur Smith, Jayme Layne Steele, Rebekah Louise Taylor, David William Tharp, Laramie Blake Trapp, Robert Allen Verbic, Michael James Warren, Steven Joseph Waner, Matthew Allen Williams, and Stacia Elizabeth Williams.
In addition, foreign exchange students participating will be Olga Karpenko, Denis Krompass, Yuriy Igorevitch Privezentsev, Ocativo Quijas, Alexandros Saxonis, and Karl Robert Vieweg.
Brookens, Powers, and Taylor are the commencement speakers.
Honor recognition includes valedictorian (preeminence in scholarship), salutatorian (second highest in class) outstanding senior boy and girl, and academic honor awards.
Principal Ken Arnhold will present the class. Board President Rex Savage will present the diplomas.
Special music will be provided by the MHS Singers under the direction of Adam White.
Processional and recessional music will be provided by the MHS band under the direction of Mike Connell.
A photographer has been hired to take pictures of the actual diploma presentation. The class asks that pictures not be taken during the presentation of diplomas.
