MHS group attends FCCLA meeting in Newton
The Marion High School Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America attended the A+ Conference Sept. 28 and 29 at Hesston.
This conference is a quick, action-packed personal-development seminar designed to make a difference in participants' lives by:
Presenting a balanced approach to life in the areas of physical, social and mental development, stimulating internal motivation, teaching goal-setting skills and strategies, generation of positive attitudes, promoting healthy lifestyles, and ultimately developing each participant's self-concept and worth.
Students attending from MHS were LeNore Nelson, Tiffany Conner, Alicia Pontious, and Bethany Regier.
Attendees were separated into groups and introduced to people from other Kansas schools. They participated in many activities, including making posters, playing name bingo as a group, tag, and rock, paper, scissors.
Each game helped attendees to accomplish a goal — to work together, build a team, and make a difference in each other's lives.
FCCLA is unique among youth organizations in that high school programs are planned and run by members. Participants in state and national programs often become strong leaders in their families, careers and communities.
