MHS musicians compete at KSHSAA festival

The Marion High School instrumental and vocal students competed Saturday at the KSHSAA Regional Solo & Ensemble Festival at Tabor College.

The MHS music department entered 21 solo and ensemble events at the festival. Eighteen of the 21 groups and/or solos garnered I ratings.

Among the notables was freshman Michael Brookens, who received a I rating in alto saxophone, violin, and vocal solo competition.

According to instructors Mike Connell, instrumental music, and Adam White, vocal music, the Marion students gave exceptional performances.

The music duo also credited the hard work of the four pianists who accompanied the respective performances.
