MHS runners end season
Ewert medals at state
Marion High senior Zac Ewert finished his high school cross country career Saturday at the Class 3-A state competition in Wamego, while a junior girl has another year to go.
Ewert placed 19th in the boys' competition of the state tournament, while junior Jessica DeForest placed 21st in the girls' competition.
Ewert's 19th place earned him a state medal, while DeForest's 21st place was just one shy of medaling, said MHS head coach Matt Robert.
"I was really proud of both Zac and Jessica," Robert commented. "Zac met all his personal goals this season including winning the Marion meet.
"Jessica practiced hard all year," Robert said. "I'm excited she'll be back next year."
In his first year as MHS cross country coach, Robert said the entire team met all his expectations.
"I'm real happy with how everyone did," he said. "It was a great first year for me."
