MHS seniors awarded Washburn scholarships

Six Marion High School students have been awarded scholarships by Washburn University.

Clayton Chamberland, Tracy Khounsavanh, and Amy Tajchman each received academic scholarships. Erin Fruechting received a music scholarship, and Caitlin O'Dell and Rebecca Savage each received an academic and valedictorian scholarships.

The MHS seniors were recognized at the Washburn University Scholarship Banquet April 1 in Wichita.

Academic scholarships require a 21 on the ACT test, a 3.0 grade point average, and full-time enrollment. The scholarships are renewable by maintaining a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at Washburn.

Valedictorian scholarships are awarded to students who are ranked number one in their class after the seventh semester. They are renewable by maintaining a 3.0 and above grade point average and complete 12 credit hours each semester at Washburn University.
