Maybe they should build a dome.
Three weeks into the Marion High School softball and baseball seasons and the two teams have played a grand total of five games.
That amounts to 13 total washouts.
The softball team has played one doubleheader, against Smoky Valley, and lost both. Baseball has dropped a doubleheader to Smoky Valley, and a single game to Haven.
"The girls are ready to play," coach Sandy Black said.
And play they are going to — as long as the weather cooperates.
The girls are scheduled to play three doubleheaders this week and next. It was Haven at home Tuesday, and will be Halstead at home Thursday, and a makeup game Friday at Hillsboro.
Throw in the three match-ups next week and it amounts to 12 games in 11 days.
"These two weeks are full, but the girls are pretty pumped up and ready," Black said.
The baseball team has missed only five games, and will stay mostly on schedule for now. Most of the team's make-ups will be the first week in May.
The one game the team did get in this past week was an 8-3 home loss to Haven.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first two innings.
Trailing 8-0 in the fifth, the Warriors put three runs on the board, but the game was called after the inning due to rain.
Freshman Wil Case had two RBIs for the Warriors, while junior Calvin Jeffrey was 2-3 with a double and a run scored.

Softball did get a doubleheader in Thursday at home against Nickerson.
Valeree Hett pitched both games. MHS dropped the first game, 5-1, but came back in the second to claim the victory, 10-6.
In a wild game the same day, the Warrior baseball team outlasted the Panthers, 16-13.
A seven-run third inning changed a six-run deficit into a one-run Warrior lead, and Marion-Florence/Peabody-Burns scored nine runs over the next two innings for the victory.
Freshman Mitchell Ragland led the way for MFPB going 3-3 with a triple and four RBIs, and picked up the win on the pitching mound.
Colton Olsen and Jordan Foth each had two RBIs for the Warriors.
The team split a doubleheader Monday against Council Grove, dropping the first game, 19-2, but taking the victory in the second, 9-1.
Marshall Ragland gave up just one run to earn the victory on the mound.
