Marion High School students were honored May 19 at an awards assembly at Marion City Building.

Student council members presided over the assembly.

Scholars' bowl

Scholars' bowl teams participated in 11 varsity and four junior varsity and freshmen/sophomore competitions this year.

The team of Sarah Davidson, Tyler Stubenhofer, Michael Brookens, and Rachel Davidson took second place at the Rock Creek tournament.

The varsity team of Sarah Davidson, Trevor Jones, Tyler Stubenhofer, and Rachel Davidson placed third at the Emporia High School meet.

Sarah Davidson, Michael Brookens, Jones, and Rachel Davidson took first at the Southeast of Saline meet.

In the freshman/sophomore division at the CVL meet, the team of Rachel Davidson, Lee Ownbey, Isaac Guetersloh, and Kyle Hett brought home third place medals.

Letter winners — four years: Sarah Davidson; three years: Trevor Jones; two years: Michael Brookens and Rachel Davidson; one year: Tyler Stubenhofer.

Other participants were Adam Guetersloh, Adrienne Chamberland, Isaac Guetersloh, Kyle Hett, Lee Ownbey, and Luke Bowers.

Top scorers in the junior varsity and freshman/sophomore competitions were Isaac Guetersloh with 220 points and Kyle Hett with 210 points.

The top varsity scorer for the second year in a row, with 1,660 varsity points was senior Sarah Davidson.

FFA

Elisa Gayle, Nikki Johnson, Allison Meador, Jordan Timm, Lee Ownbey, and Joel Zeiner were recognized for having poetry accepted to "A Celebration in Poetry."

Debate

Debater of the year — Sarah Davidson.

Sarah and Rachel Davidson were recognized for placing third in the state debate competition.

Adam and Isaac Guetersloh, Lee Ownbey, and Paul Hodson also were recognized for their efforts on the debate squad this year.
