Milford Nickel
Milford E. "Nick" Nickel, 86, of Valley Center, died April 30, 2007.
Born Feb. 15, 1921, at Goessel, he was the son of David B. and Bertha (Neufeld) Nickel.
He was formerly of Hemet, Calif. He was a plumbing, heating, and air conditioning contractor.
He was preceded in death by his son Glenn Nickel; grandson, Jaz Kersenbrock; and sister, Della Ruth Rittgers.
Survivors include his wife, Vernita (Wimmer) Nickel of Valley Center; children, Diane Boese of Valley Center, Karen Hunt of Riverside, Calif., Gary Nickel and Connie Kersenbrock, both of Hutchinson, and David Nickel of Buhler; stepchildren, Jerry Franklin of Salina, Janita Franklin of Denver, Colo., and Diana Wood of Riverside, Calif.; sister, Rozella Plenert of Marion; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at Calvary Baptist Church, Valley Center, with Pastor Michael Scott officiating.
Burial was in Marion Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with Calvary Baptist Church, 520 N. Sheridan, Valley Center 67147.
