Mini-Mall to open with new name, owner
Staff reporter
Passers-by have noticed a flurry of activity at the former Mini-Mall at 901 E. Main, Marion.
Theresa Carroll, with assistance from her parents, Pat and Fran Callaghan, is fixing up the 30-year-old building to reopen as an antique and gift store.
The building formerly was owned by Jim and Berniece Beach, owners of HRK Warehouse.
The store will sell antiques, collectibles, Kansas crafts, and various works of art.
Fashion jewelry and gifts also will be available.
Both Theresa and Fran are Mary Kay sales representatives and want to include a training center for the cosmetic company.
The Callaghans are from Manhattan and own and operate an antique store there. Their roots are in Norton and they appreciate smaller communities.
"Small towns have a lot to offer," Fran said.
Theresa agreed.
"I want to be a strong member of the community," she said, and plans to make space available to youth and church organizations for fund-raisers.
The women also would like to see a group formed, Chat and Sew, for those who like to gather and do any kind of handiwork.
The sign in front of the building directs those interested in being vendors to call.
"We want local vendors," Fran explained, "to keep money local."
"It's important to give back to the community as much as possible," Theresa said.
The business will be called TC's What Not Shop.
A Feb. 1 opening date is the goal but will be dependent on how quickly improvements and remodeling can be completed.
