MMS girls enjoy full week of games

Marion Middle School Wildcats girls' basketball teams won four of six games this past week against Sterling and Wichita Collegiate.
The Wildcats swept Sterling Nov. 29, winning all three games. The A-team won convincingly 34-10. MMS used a balanced attack with seven girls scoring. Kayley Heerey and Kristen Steinborn led with eight points each, and Julia Zeiner had six points. Sarah Freeby and Lindsay Hett had four points each.
The B-team scraped by with a 25-22 victory by holding on to a 12-7 halftime lead.
The Wildcats again used a balanced scoring attack, also having seven girls score.
Shelby Purcell and Donna Cady led the team with five points each. Shanna Kline and Kayla Williams chipped in with four each.
The Wildcat C-team handled Sterling 26-17.
Josie Freeby was the team's leading scorer with eight points.
MMS didn't find as much success Thursday at Collegiate. Both A and B-teams fell to the Spartans, but the C-team kept its undefeated season alive with a 14-10 victory.
Freeby was high-scorer again with six points. Kathy Goering, Ashley Ratzloff, Raelene Allen, and Melissa Carlson all had two points each.
The Wildcats play Thursday at home against Lindsborg.
