MMS volleyball has mixed results

Hesston Middle School visited Marion Thursday, Sept. 7, to take on the Marion Middle School girls' volleyball teams.

The first match went three closely-contested games, with Hesston prevailing 2-1. Taylor Harms was the leading Wildcat server.

Marion scored a match win in the second contest, losing the first game 25-14 but coming back to win the last two 25-12 and 25-23. The lead server for Marion was Lacy Hess.

Tristen Snelling and Ariel Deppler were the ace servers as the Wildcats needed only two games to vanquish Hesston, 25-12 and 25-17.

The Wildcats ran into difficulty this past Thursday against Hillsboro, with the Lady Trojans taking all three matches.

The B-team tilt was won by Hillsboro in three games. Tristen Snelling provided a spark for the Wildcats, while Whitney Gordon led the team in serving.

Hillsboro needed just two games to win the A-team match, 25-20 and 25-18. The lead server for the Wildcats was Raelene Allen.

"The girls played well as a team," said MMS head coach Michelle Adkins. "They made Hillsboro work for the win."

In the C-team matchup, the Wildcats fell in two games, 25-7 and 25-22.

The next Wildcat volleyball contests will be Thursday when Lyons visits Marion. The first game starts at 4:30.
