MMS volleyball off to good start
Marion Middle School Wildcats volleyball team opened the season 2-1 Thursday at Sterling.
Head coach Shannon Cooper was pleased with the results.
"Coach [Michelle] Adkins and I were really impressed at how well they played together," she said. "Our serving and aggressiveness is what won the games."
The Wildcat A-team took the first game against the Black Bears 25-13 before dropping game two, 25-20. It won game three 25-19.
"They cooperated well together and are not afraid to be aggressive," Cooper said.
The B-team took care of Sterling in two games, 25-21 and 25-16.
Cooper was proud of how hard the girls worked, especially with their serving.
The C-team dropped both games against the Black Bears.
Kayley Heerey led the Wildcats on the night with 15 successful serves, and Macy Hess added five.
MMS plays at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in a home match-up against rival Hillsboro.
