MMS volleyball splits four with Lindsborg
Marion Middle School volleyball team split four matches Thursday with the Lindsborg Vikings.
The seventh grade team fell to 1-2, losing both games.
Head coach Shannon Cooper would have liked a victory, but said she was pleased because the girls communicated well and are improving each week.
The eighth grade team (2-1) lost the first game of its match 25-20, but came back to take the next two games, 25-17 and 25-18.
The seventh grade mixed team picked up its first victory of the year, improving to 1-1.
The Wildcats knocked off the Vikings 25-17 and 25-20.
"This team is so fun to watch," Cooper said. They are very coachable and give 100 percent all the time."
The eighth grade mixed team fought hard, but fell to 1-2 after a three-game loss.
Leading servers for the seventh graders were Shayla Rahe with nine, and Heather Fine and Alex Cain with six each.
Tiffany Christensen (14) and Sarah Freeby (12) led the eighth grade servers.
MMS will play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Ellinwood.
