MMS Wildcats take care of Halstead

Marion Middle School Wildcats volleyball teams had one of their best nights of the season, taking three of four games from the Halstead Dragons. The seventh grade team started the night with a loss, but played close. They dropped both games 25-20, 26-24, to fall to 1-4.

The eighth grade team, which had lost two in a row, roared out of the gate, and never looked back, defeating Halstead 25-10, 25-15, to move to 3-2.

"It was our night to win," head coach Shannon Cooper said. "Everything just clicked for this group."

The seventh grade mixed team left off where the eighth graders did, knocking off the Dragons, 25-19, 25-14. The team now stands at 4-1.

"The whole team's intensity was up this game," Cooper said.

The eighth grade mixed team finished the night on a good note, sweeping Halstead 25-11, 26-24, improving to 3-1.

Tristen Snelling nine serves, Heather Fine eight serves, and Madison Chamberland seven serves, led the seventh grade team. Jaclyn DeForest and Shanna Kline eight serves, and Kristen Steinborn and Emma Hett seven serves, led the eighth graders.

MMS will play host at 4:30 p.m. Thursday to Collegiate on parent's night.
