More than a map dot
Residents of Marion County have a unique opportunity this weekend to participate in an event that could change the way the rest of the world perceives us.
An agritourism workshop, sponsored by Tampa Community Association, will be held Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at Tampa Senior Center.
The event will feature Remelle Farrar of Canadian, Texas, who spoke at a preliminary meeting in August. Farrar sees Marion County as the point to begin developing a multi-county agritourism region in Kansas. That's good news for us.
If someone from Texas can come to Marion County and see the potential for growth through tourism, we should be excited — and there should be a standing-room-only crowd this weekend at Tampa.
Farmers, ranchers, community leaders, and anyone interested in seeing Marion County become a mecca for agritourism, should attend this meeting.
Farrar sees potential here. Residents of Marion County need to jump on the bandwagon and get involved. There are many things unique to Marion County that the world doesn't know about. With a little cooperation and planning, we can become more than a dot on the map.
