Muriel Wolfersperger

Muriel E. Wolfersperger, 79, Peabody, died Feb. 24, 2003, at Newton.

Born April 28, 1923, at Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Hazel Mildred (Kern) Trumbo.

She was the school board clerk of Peabody-Burns Unified School District.

She was a member of Peabody Historical Society, Athena, the United Methodist Church, and Peabody Main Street Association. For 10 years she was a community leader in 4-H. She also was a member and served as president of Kansas Association of Education Office Personnel.

Survivors include her daughter Kristin, and son-in-law Roger Carswell of Iola; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son John Wolfersperger Jr., who died May 18, 1995, and an infant son, David.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peabody United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Randall will officiate. Burial will be a private family service in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial funds in her name have been established with Peabody Historical Society, Iola USD 257 Endowment Association, and Creitz Band Campaign.
