As I look out my kitchen door window I can see the grass is getting green, some trees are budding, tulips and daffodils are up. After having about four inches of rain, it will be a while before I can have my garden tilled.
Fred and Marguerite Utech, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge of Hillsboro, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua of Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht and Kallie of Salina, and Teresa Tajchman were Feb. 29 supper guests of Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. They celebrated the birthdays of Fred, Jennifer, and Jayson. They opened their gifts and then had ice cream and cake.
Larry Rudolph visited me Friday and was my supper guest. He fed my cattle.
Randy and Colleen Klug of Herington hosted a sixth birthday party Sunday afternoon for their twin daughters, Alison and Nicole. Bob Reznicek and his mother Irma joined other relatives and friends for the celebration. They had ice cream and cake. When the twins opened their gifts they opened the gifts that were wrapped the same before they opened the others.
Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu and Fred and Marguerite Utech went Saturday afternoon to McPherson to see "The Passion of the Christ."
We were sorry to hear that Magdalen Klenda had died. Her funeral was Monday at the Pilsen Catholic church.
Irma Reznicek said she planted some spinach, lettuce, radishes, and peas before the rain. Bob raked a few inches on top of her garden.
Junior Hanschu drove Sunday afternoon to Hillsboro where he bowled with the Marion County Big Brothers/Big Sisters. About 5 p.m. when they walked out of the building they noticed smoke to the east. The Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church was on fire. Junior heard comments that they will rebuild. While Junior was bowling, Jeanetta was visiting with Jayson and Jan Hanschu and Jakob and Jorge.
Dollye Novak and Hallie Novak volunteered Friday morning for the Centre Elementary School reading program.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik's guests this past weekend were Bob and Debbie Burns and children from Wichita.
