Nickolas Hett places at state tournament
Nickolas Hett finished his high school golf career with a 17th place finish Monday in the 3A state tournament at Hesston.
Nickolas shot an 83 and placed 17th in a field of 106 golfers. The winning score was a 75.
Marion golfers competed May 13 in the final CVL golf tournament at Herington. Enduring 20-mph north winds and rain, the team of Nickolas and Travis Hett won the two-man title, shooting a 156.
Nickolas placed second individually, with a score of 77. Travis was fifth, shooting a 79.
The six-man team placed second overall, losing to Council Grove.
Marion golfers traveled May 17 to Medicine Lodge for regional play.
Nickolas Hett was the only team member to qualify individually, placing fifth overall with a score of 76.
Travis Hett placed eighth and received a regional medal, but missed qualifying for state by one stroke, shooting an 81.
Marion's four-man team placed third.
