Niece will be missed
Cynthia, what a pretty name. It makes you think of beautiful flowers and happy laughter. That was Cynthia, my dear niece. Now, she is gone. She leaves three beautiful daughters and two beautiful stepdaughters. Cynthia was the beloved adopted child of my sister, Dorothy and her husband Amos. They lived here in Marion where Cynthia attended primary school. Her father, Amos Peterson, an engineer, was connected with the Marion County Engineer's office for awhile.
Cynthia's first husband died quite young leaving her with three small children. Later she married a fine man, a widower, with two daughters. Can you imagine a household with five young girls going through those teen-age years? Anyway, Cynthia's second husband died and one of her daughters was hit by a car and was permanently injured. Cynthia met all these tragedies with courage and dignity. We will miss her.
Last summer some of us visited the zoo just west of Salina and were impressed with the large number of animals and the beautiful landscaping of the place. Now I have learned that the zoo has purchased a huge collection of stuffed animals that will be on display in a natural habitat setting. Sounds interesting.
Speaking of animals, I hear you can hunt wild hogs in Oklahoma. Of course, you could enjoy a nice piece of roasted hog at the Tampa State Bank barbecue in Tampa. That would be more my type of hunting.
