Noted photographer to speak at KSU Huck Boyd lecture series
National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson will deliver the fourth annual Huck Boyd Lecture Sept 18 in Forum Hall at Kansas State University, Manhattan.
Richardson is noted for his ability to use photography's art with journalism's attempt to convey information.
A native Kansan, he worked as a photographer for the Topeka Capital-Journal from 1970-81. He was with the Denver Post as a special assignment photographer, roving the West from 1981-84.
Earlier, he was with Student Publications at K-State.
As a NGS photographer he lives at Lindsborg and travels the world seeking to photograph people in expressive black and white as well as color illustrations.
He was featured on the ABC news program Nightline as a highly acclaimed NGS photographer.
Richard and his wife, Kathy, have a 15 year old son, Tyler. They moved to Lindsborg after spending 30 years at Denver.
The Huck Boyd Center has sponsored three previous lectures, Bob Dole in 1999, Sen. Paul Simon in 2001, and broadcast journalist Bill Kurtis in 2002.
Prior to the 1 p.m. lecture, a "Leader of the Year" awards presentation will be made at 10:30 a.m. by the Huck Boyd Institute.
Lunch will be at noon in the Cottonwood Room of the KSU Student Union.
