NW Durham: Teachers welcomed with grocery shower

School began Aug. 22 for Cottonwood Grove Christian School. Teachers are Jana Wiebe, lower grades; Rhonda Davis, middle grades; and Dianne Wedel, upper grades. The patrons of the school had a grocery shower for the teachers Monday evening. The teachers moved in to their house at the school Monday.
Ken and Sandy Wiebe returned Tuesday after a two-week vacation. They went to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, for a reunion with girls who Sandy had served with years ago at the Children's Home at Gallup, N.M. This was where their houseparents are now living. They went on to Almena, Wis., where Sandy's mother and other relatives live. They also attended the 50th anniversary celebration of their church on the weekend of the 12th at Almena.
Katelin Unruh moved to Hesston College Thursday. This will be her second year there. Mark and Barb attended some of the weekend activities for parents. An early morning worship service was held Sunday for students and parents.
Monday evening supper guests at the Harry Rhodes home were Larry and Wanda Koehn, Denise and Titus, and their houseguests, Tom and Sara Penner and Mollie, Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and Bethany, Ruston and Lydia Dirks, and Alan and Heather Martin and Kymbrea.
Those enjoying a cookout Tuesday evening at the Brenton place were the Larry Koehn family, Travis and Sharon Koehn and family, Tom and Sara Penner and Mollie, Tim and Shelia Koehn and family, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and Kyran, Bruce Dirks family, Ruston and Lydia Dirks, and Alan and Heather Martin and Kymbrea. The Martin family returned home Wednesday and the Penner family left Thursday. The Penners reported frost damage to their cucumbers while they were gone from their home in Swan River, Manitoba.
The Greg Wedel family vacationed this past week in Colorado.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe attended church services Sunday at Moundridge and were dinner guests of Leon and Martha Koehn. Later they visited Helen Wiebe at the Manor.
Wendell and Linda Wedel took Amanda out to eat at McPherson Sunday after visiting her at the Manor.
Sunday dinner guests of the Calvin Wiebes were the Troy Wiebe family and Tami Koehn and Riley.
Enjoying Sunday dinner at the Clayton Wiebe home were Dale and Kathy Jantz, Duane and Louise Ratzlaff and Raylatta, and Charles and Tyson Hiebert.
Teal Stutzman of Lancaster, Pa., arrived at the home of his aunt and uncle, Barb and Mark Unruh, where he will stay for several days until moving to Tabor College. He will be a student there and play football.
