Officers make arrest following vehicle chase

Marion County Sheriff's deputies Rollin Schmidt and Aaron Waddell were investigating a criminal damage to property case at Centre High School late Sunday evening when they observed a truck without a tag light and with one taillight out.

When Deputy Waddell activated his emergency lights, the driver of the truck picked up speed and began passing vehicles, forcing them off the road.

The truck went down several county roads and became stuck in a ditch. The driver fled the vehicle and ran approximately one-half mile north to his residence at 2725 280th, Lincolnville.

Deputies Michal Fisher and Schmidt along with Sergeant Jeff Soyez and Marion police officer Michel Soyez went to the residence and arrested 19-year-old Dustin J. Bina.

Bina is being held at Marion County Jail on charges of DUI, fleeing and eluding an officer, driving at an unsafe speed, reckless driving, driving in violation of restrictions, failure to use turn signals, left of center on curve, passing with insufficient clearance, no tail light, and no tag light.
