Ownbey, Riggs are students of the month

Senior Lee Ownbey and junior Erika Riggs have been named Marion High School March students of the month.

Lee is the son of Bones Ownbey and Ellie Burrows of Elmdale. His he has two siblings, Austin and Robyn.

He has stayed active in school with by participating in musicals, melodramas, and the jazz band.

Lee has been a part of National Honors Society, the A-Team, and Future Business Leaders of America.

The senior also has competed in debate, forensics, and Scholars' Bowl.

Outside of school Lee is a member of Youth Court and was a Labor Day volunteer. He said he likes to do community service whenever he can.

Erika is involved in school through sports and other activities.

She was a member of the volleyball team one year, basketball team two years, and track team two years.

Organizations she has been involved with include Future Educators of America, Key Club, and Peer Mediation. She is a member of the forensics team, was in a melodrama one year, and a part of the makeup crew three years.

Outside of school Erika has joined Lee at Youth Court, and as a Labor Day volunteer. She also has helped with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Marion County, Kids Club, and is a youth group member.

Erika is the daughter of Raquel and Richard Riggs. Her siblings include Starla, Merissa, Leslie, and the late Calvin Riggs.
