I met the newest member of our community Sunday afternoon. His name is Doc and he is a Palomino stud colt, owned by the Gaschlers. They are getting the Youngtown church ready for their home. Cindy Gaschler and Layne Nienstedt were grazing Doc on the church lawn when I came home from Wichita, so I stopped to visit. This is one pretty young animal and is spending his week in Ken and Margie Nienstedt's corral. He is six months old and well behaved, not afraid of my car. I have raised a couple Palomino colts and think they are my favorite horse color. It will be fun watching him grow.
Donna Jost Ames was surprised Friday night at the Hyatt Hotel in Wichita with a 60th birthday party. She had planned her own party for Saturday so Skip and Eileen Sieger, Patty and Dick McLinden, Bud and Tressie Kelsey, Deanna Klenda, and Sharon and Gerald Kelsey went to her home following the Hyatt party and enjoyed the food she had prepared for Saturday.
Eileen Sieger attended a meeting Sunday of the Girl Scout Council self-evaluation task group. She met with a national staff person and national volunteer to complete the council performance assessment.
Our weather has been so pretty and the flowers have been the prettiest I can remember. Vicki Smolik called me this past week to come for pears. I enjoyed seeing her flowers. She had a red rose that was chest-high on me and it had three blooms the size of saucers. Her dahlias were plate size. She said her mother had raised dahlias, so she carried on the tradition. Mums, begonias, and so many tiny zinnias — anyway, beautiful doesn't describe her flowers.

Roseva will bring the recipe to us.

I was in Wichita Saturday to stay with Ethan Johnson while Joe was helping to make funeral arrangements for his dad, I.C. Johnson, who died Friday. Marj drove to Texas to get Emily for the services. When Joe could get Ethan, I returned home and will go Tuesday to Wichita for services.
