Paul Waner
Paul A. Waner, 85, of La Junta, Colo., died Oct. 13, 2003.
Born June 10, 1918, in Florence, he was the son of Andrew and Frances (Garrison) Waner.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years as a conductor/brakeman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Hazel N. Glassburner on Jan. 28, 1941, in Florence. She died in 1997. He married Mary C. Quicksall.
He was a life member of the La Junta Elks Lodge 701 BPOE, a member of the Ark-Valley Knights of Columbus, Council 1161, and a member of Good Sams.
Waner was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and sister, Ruth Garland.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Tim Waner of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a daughter, Paulette Wobeter of Toledo, Iowa; four brothers, John, Wilford, Bob, and Vernon Waner; a sister, Dorothy Hoffman of Marion; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Oct. 14 and the funeral Mass was conducted Oct. 15 at our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish, La Junta. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the La Junta Elks Lodge 701.
