Peabody man found dead
A preliminary investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's office indicates a man died Monday afternoon from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
At 2:34 p.m., a call was received by county dispatch of a shooting at 50th and Mustang. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a man near a parked vehicle at a residence.
Sheriff Lee Becker said 79-year-old Charles C. King Jr. of 210 Maple, Peabody, apparently shot himself in the chest and died at the scene. An investigation is continuing.
