Penalties cause Wildcat fall to Council Grove

Marion Middle School football team fell to Council Grove Thursday, 14 to zero.

The Wildcats drop to four wins and one loss for the season and finish 3-1 in the Cottonwood Valley Junior League.

The Wildcats hurt themselves the entire game with penalties. They were held to 88 yards rushing and 20 yards passing.

Council Grove scored on a pass and a fumble recovery. Kyle Hett had an exciting 74-yard interception return, but the Wildcats were unable to score.

Jason Hett led Marion with 60 yards on 16 carries. He completed three passes for 20 yards, all to Austin Hager.

Travis Hett carried 10 times but was held to just six yards. Kyle Hett rushed six times for 14 yards, and Calvin Jeffrey carried two times for eight yards.

Jason Hett led the Wildcat defense with 12 tackles, followed by Hager and Nic Waner with six each; Jeffrey, Travis Hett, and Ben Leppke, five each; Casey Baker and Hank Collett, four each; and Ben Bowers, two.

MMS travels to Hillsboro Thursday.
