Pharmacy students are members of honored chapter
The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association, recently was named chapter of the year by the national organization.
Lisa Marie Buchholz of Marion and David Paul Rziha of Tampa are members of the KU chapter and competed against 51 other chapters.
Each chapter submitted a report outlining its community service and professional development programs. Winners were chosen based on the level and scope of those programs.
KU's NCPA members have volunteered to provide bone density screenings at local hospital community health fairs. They have assisted pharmacies across the state with blood glucose and cholesterol screenings at local health fair events.
In January, the students visited pharmacies in Hillsboro, Emporia, Salina, Wichita, Kingman, Cimarron, Dodge City, Garden City, Johnson, Ness City, Russell, Scott City, Syracuse, Tribune, and Ulysses.
Buchholz, a Marion High School graduate, is a senior in the school of pharmacy. She is the daughter of Marlin and Debbie Buchholz, Marion.
Rziha, a Centre High School graduate, is a freshman in the school of pharmacy. He is the son of Jerry and Jean Rziha, Tampa.
