Pilsen: Aunt celebrates 105th birthday years ago

Margaret Vinduska spent Saturday with her aunt Ella Mahler at Legacy Park in Peabody. Ella was celebrating her 105th birthday. Carolyn and Don Meerian of Overbrook were weekend guests of Margaret and Ed Vinduska.

Kathy Svitak hosted a commercial party in her home Friday evening.

Pat and Dean Bina and Janie and Gene Johnson drove to the Brookville Hotel Sunday for dinner. They were met there by Gene Malir of Wilson. The group was celebrating Janie's birthday. Pat and Dean visited Agnes Bina at St. Luke Living Center Sunday evening.

The Binas visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nelson Friday afternoon.

Carole Sklenar drove to Newton Saturday where she was joined for lunch by Arika and Chelsie Schroeder. Carole took the girls to the park, then visited at the Schroeder home.

Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Hill spent Thursday afternoon at the Hazel Clothier farm. They were helping with some honey do's. Nellie Hill attended a tournament Sunday afternoon with her team. Nellie was working after school Monday on her 4-H project and talk at the Ruth Ann Carlson home.

Sylvia Bezdek was among those attending the commercial party at the home of Kathy Svitak. Sylvia attended the tool sale at the Lincolnville Community Building Sunday afternoon.

George Svitak, Kenny and Bonnie Vinduska, Dennis, Terry, and Tyler Klenda, Margie Stroda, and Leona Loney visited with Amelia Vinduska during the week. Margie and Arthur Stroda visited Amelia after Mass Sunday.

Margaret Vinduska and Terry, Fred and Staci Silhan visited Maxine Svitak Sunday.

Magdalen Dvorak played Bingo Friday afternoon with the residents of St. Luke Living Center. Magdalen visited Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bina and family Tuesday evening.

Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Vinduska and family were Sunday dinner guests of Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Vinduska.

Karen Konarik drove to Wichita Saturday where she attended a deployment ceremony at the Wichita Hyatt Hotel for family and friends of Army Unit 226 of fort Riley, who left Monday for the Middle East. Mrie Konarik, a student at Kansas State, spent the weekend with her parents, Robert and Karen Konarik.

Paul and Alice Meysing attended the Knights of Columbus 4th degree Valentine dinner and dance Saturday evening at the Wichita Council 4118 club house. They attended World Marriage Day Sunday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

LaVada Holub drove to Newton Monday and spent the day with Gerald and Amanda Goddard and family. Amanda was baby-sitting with other family "young ones" so LaVada got to see all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pilsen Community Board served a beef and ham dinner Sunday at the center. A stockholders' meeting was held after the dinner. Lou Vinduska and George Oborny went off the board and were replaced with Terry Silhan and Joe Nowak.

Joe and JoAnn Nowak drove to Salina Saturday where they attended a school play, "West Side Story," at Salina South. Their granddaughter, Arielle Gengler, had one of the lead parts. The Nowaks were overnight guests of the Gengler family.

JoAnn Nowak, Ruby Vinduska, and Margaret Vinduska were among those attending the Tampa American Legion Auxiliary meeting Monday evening. The women sewed carpet strips.

George and Patsy Waner and Robert and Shirley Mans had dinner together at the Town and Country Restaurant in Florence. The Waners visited with Bob and Shirley in the afternoon. Patsy visited Sarah Stika Sunday evening and substituted at Marion High School on Friday.

Dr. Linda Loney of Boston visited me Thursday through Saturday. We drove to Wichita Friday afternoon to visit Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Loney, Connor and Audra. Thomas and Betty Loney of Tulsa, Okla., came Saturday morning to spend the day with us, but the phone rang shortly after noon and it was Chris asking his parents to come take care of Audra because the doctor had put Connor into the hospital with pneumonia.
