Pilsen: Birthday celebrated at Vinduska home

It was "Happy Birthday" time at the Lou Vinduska home Sunday. Those enjoying dinner together celebrating Lou's 85th birthday and an afternoon of visiting included Terry and Cindy Vinduska, Ron, Tammi, and Kristi Vinduska of Topeka, Leona Kleiber of Tampa, Melissa and Daniel Stuchlik of Wichita, and Jill Vinduska and Armando Terin of Manhattan. Jill and Armando were Saturday overnight guests of Terry and Cindy.

Patsy Waner attended the Neo-Century Club meeting Monday evening at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Alice Meysing and Patsy were in Wichita on Tuesday. On their return, they visited Pauline Meysing at the Newton Medical Center. Pauline is recovering from recent surgery. The George Waners visited Steve, Ann, and Claire Buckendahl in Benton Sunday afternoon.

Dean and Pat Bina visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holub in Peabody Sunday evening.

Calling on Maxine Svitak during the week were Bill Schimpf, Christy and Wes Hiebert and Ashleigh and Shelbe Svitak of Newton, Dylon Svitak, Margaret Vinduska, Nancy Cowan and Janelle Reidy of Hope. Terry Silhan was Maxine's Friday dinner guest.

Magdalen Dvorak accompanied Don, Karen, and Matthew Druse to El Reno, Okla. where they were weekend guests of Tom and Margaret Niles. They went especially to attend the baptism of Magdalen's great-grandson, Wyatt Autry Kappus, son of Eric and Deana Kappus of Union City, Okla. They also visited with Frank and Danielle Hoffman of El Reno. They were Sunday evening supper guests of Tom, Claudette, and Kristy Druse of Enid, Okla.

Ruby Vinduska, JoAnn Nowak, and Margaret Vinduska attended the Tampa Legion Auxiliary meeting held late Monday afternoon. The women tore and sewed carpet rags, which are sent to the VA Hospital in Topeka.

Mary and Dennis Steiner drove to Junction City Saturday on business. They enjoyed dinner at a Chinese restaurant before returning home.

Dr. Jessica, Anna, and Jordan Laurin were Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tajchman and Jenna.

Terry Vinduska attended a U.S. Grains Council meeting in Chicago Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jan, Jakob, and Jorge Hanschu of Hillsboro were Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nowak. Tim, Jennifer, Elijah, Allie, and Luke Frasher of Wichita were Saturday afternoon and overnight guests of the Nowaks. They had dinner with Joe and JoAnn Sunday before returning home.

Charlene Svitak visited her mother, Lillian Krch, who is a resident at Lake Point in El Dorado, on Friday. Charlene had dinner with her mother and spent the afternoon visiting. George and Charlene drove to Goddard Sunday and attended a dance. Charlene played with the band that furnished the music. Before returning home, they enjoyed supper at Newell's in Newton.

Yours truly spent from Friday until Sunday afternoon as a houseguest of Dr. Paul, Catrina, Elise, Adelle, Olivia, and Eli Loney in Lawrence. Additional houseguests were Dr. Linda Loney of Boston, Mass., and Dr. John Loney of Camdenton, Mo. Rachel Cooper, who is a junior at KU, also spent time with the family over the weekend.

Pete and Roberta Leiker of McPherson, parents of Mrs. Greg Spachek, visited John Spachek Sunday afternoon.

The Gail Makovec family attended the work auction and barbecue at Centre High School Monday evening. Simon and Shaina Makovec participated in the auction. Afterward, Marissa attended a FFA alumni meeting. The Makovec family attended the biddy basketball game at Centre Tuesday evening. Marissa attended an after-prom meeting Thursday evening at the Lincolnville Methodist Church. The family drove to Salina Sunday where they attended a 4-H skating party. They ate supper before returning home.

Dustin Stevens is now making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sklenar and attending Centre Junior High. Darla and Kaylee Kasper and Kevin Searl of Newton visited with Lloyd and Dustin Sunday afternoon. Carole Sklenar met her daughter, Yvonne Schroeder, in Newton for the weekend and they attended a women's retreat. Lloyd and Dustin attended Mass in Florence Sunday morning, then had breakfast with Joe and Rosella Sklenar at the Town and Country Café. Carole visited with me Tuesday evening.

Teresa and Cassidy Hill met Hazel Clothier in Florence Monday, then drove on to Newton on business. The Kevin Hill family drove to Salina Sunday and attended a 4-H skating party.

Bud and Rose Vinduska, Ken Vinduska, and Margie Stroda visited Amelia Vinduska during the week. Amelia accompanied John Spachek to Mass at Marion Manor on Wednesday.

Harvest House met in Marion Friday at the Marion activity center. John Spachek, Ruby Holub, Amelia Vinduska, Margaret Jirak, Paul and Alice Meysing, Emma Klenda, Sister Alice Klenda, and Father Steve Gronert were among those attending.

Colleen Schawe and son, and John Potwin and Carol Russell of Wichita visited with Amelia Vinduska on Saturday. Christopher Vinduska of Wichita and Amelia were Sunday dinner guests of Ken and Bonnie Vinduska.

Vernie Base of Smolan visited George and Kathleen Oborny Sunday afternoon.

Karen Thompson and daughter Alex spent several days this past week as houseguests of Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Vinduska while Jeff was out of town on company business. Ann and Melissa Malone and Jo Ellen, Kristen, Katie, Emily, and William Whitehair, all of Wichita, spent Saturday, with the Vinduskas. Dr. Jerry and Vincent Vinduska of Marion were additional Saturday afternoon guests. The Eugene Vinduskas were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Vogel and family of Marion. Pizza was on the menu for supper.

Greg and Darla Meysing and family visited with Paul, Alice, and Don Meysing Sunday afternoon.

Meggan Daniel of Wichita was a guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Silhan, last weekend while her husband, Geoff, was in Taiwan on a business trip for the Coleman Company.

Terry and Kathy Silhan, Fred Silhan, Meggan Daniel, and Staci Thurston helped with the benefit for Matt Warta last Sunday in Lincolnville. They celebrated Staci's birthday Sunday evening.

On Thursday of this week, Kathy Silhan and Ella Winter were Thursday afternoon guests of Shawna and Grace Winter in Marion.

Fred Silhan and Staci Thurston were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Silhan.
