Pilsen: Jirak and guests enjoy visiting, eating, music

Gathering at Marguerite Jirak's home Sunday afternoon for an afternoon of visiting were Michelle Molner, Cindy Jirak Mueller and daughter of Assaria, Randy Jirak and children of Winfield, Steve Jirak and Jackie of Salina, Kim Jirak Kline and sons of Salina, Barry, Jenny, and son Conner Montgomery and Joe, Tish, and Mark Vinduska of Lincolnville, Ed and Gemma Davies of Marion, Clarence, Joan, and Bob Stroda of Navarre, Lilllie Vinduska, Millie Vinduska, Bob Vinduska, and Laura Howard. Finger foods were enjoyed by the group, as was a musical presentation by Bob Vinduska and Steve Jirak on their guitars and Michelle Molner as vocalist. What's this about Clarence not being able to hear Michelle sing? Now, now Clarence!

Forrest and Marie Anderson of Burdick accompanied Paul and Alice Meysing on Friday to the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Junior Schippers and son Jerome of Colwich were Sunday dinner guests of the Meysings and Don. They spent the afternoon visiting. They came especially to get seed wheat.

Lavada Holub visited with Tom and Sandy Holub Sunday afternoon. LaVada attended the wedding dance honoring Mr. and Mrs. Jay Fenske Saturday evening. Jay Fenske and Rachel Beausoleil were married in Lincolnville Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran church.

Rose and Don Kramer of Wichita were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Silhan. The afternoon was spent visiting.

Terry Vinduska spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Washington, D.C., attending a U.S. Grain Council funding task force meeting. Monty and Sarah Stuchlik accompanied Terry and Cindy to the Kansas State Fair on Sunday. They were met there by Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik of Wichita.

The Hope School had Grandparents' Week last week. Wednesday morning Irene Tajchman and Lowell and Laverne Davidson spent the day with their grandson, Dustin Davidson. The grandparents did "show and tell." Irene showed a necklace she had made. They had dinner together before leaving the school. Irene had dinner Friday evening with Gene and Anna Marie Miller of Andover.

Marie Konarik of Manhattan spent the weekend with her parents, Bob and Karen Konarik.

The Tampa American Legion Auxiliary will be sponsoring a flea market Oct. 19. For more information call Dee Duggan.

Janice and Bernie Waner accompanied Marlene, Daniel, and Elizabeth Goentzel to Wichita Sunday to watch the Blue Angels.

Kathy Silhan visited Bob and Irene Finley Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Kathy spent the days in Wichita on business.

Marion Bina of Newton was a Friday evening visitor at the Randy Svitak home. Kathy and Randy drove to Junction City Saturday where they enjoyed dinner and picked up their patio furniture. Damien Svitak and Jenny Stevens of Manhattan were Sunday evening guests at the Randy Svitak home. They were returning from Ashland where they had visited Jenny's parents.

Everett Everson of Abilene was a Tuesday dinner guest of Pat and Dean Bina. Pat and Dean visited Agnes Bina on Friday at Marion Manor. The Binas attended the flea market at the Coliseum in Wichita on Sunday. Later they attended the soccer games in Newton.

Evelyn Grogan, who has spent several days with her aunt, Emma Klenda, left today (Monday) for her home in Winfield.

Magdalen Dvorak attended the Sunflower Senior Citizens meeting and luncheon Tuesday noon in Tampa. Magdalen treated Eric, Deana, Bailey, and Wyatt Kappus of Union City, Okla., and Karen, Melanie, and Kara Druse of Marion to supper Friday evening at the Durham Café. Maggie Vinduska of Emporia and Magdalen accompanied John and Marlene Clayton of Ellinwood to Baldwin City Saturday and Sunday and attended the Baker University football game. Joseph Vinduska, Magdalen's grandson, is a member of the team. John, Marlene, and Magdalen were Saturday overnight guests of Mike and Carleen Dvorak of Emporia. On Sunday, John, Marlene, Magdalen, and Maggie attended another game at Baldwin City. Tom and Janel Dvorak of Newton also attended the Saturday game.

Mr. and Mrs. Lou Vinduska drove to Minneapolis Wednesday, taking dinner with them. They visited with Ruby's sister, Anna Aultum.

Stephanie Loney and friend Linda of Wichita visited me Sunday afternoon.

Darla Kasper and Kevin Searl of Newton were Friday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sklenar. Carole Sklenar attended classes at Butler on Saturday. Yvonne, Arika, and Chelsie Schroeder of Newton visited at the Sklenar home Saturday afternoon.

Edmund and Mary Lou Kroupa visited Irene Novak Sunday afternoon at the Hillsboro Community Medical Center. They also visited Theo Kroupa at Marion Manor.

Vernie and Gene Konecny and Branden and Adam Temel drove to Newton where Adam participated in a soccer game.

Terry and Kathy Silhan attended the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson Saturday. Fred Silhan and Staci Thurston were Sunday evening supper guests of his parents.

Amelia Vinduska attended Mass in Marion Monday. Adam Collett and son visited Amelia Monday afternoon. Amelia Vinduska visited at the Collett home on Tuesday. Ken and Bonnie Vinduska and Margie Stroda visited Amelia during the week. Margie and Arthur Stroda visited her Sunday after Mass. Amelia accompanied Ken and Bonnie Vinduska to Wichita Sunday afternoon. They attended the first birthday party of Martin Donahoe at Chuck E Cheese's. Others attending included Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dold, Katie and Jeremy of Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Donahoe and the honoree, Jeremy, of Olathe, Karen and Joseph Vinduska of Wichita, Rose Vinduska and Vickie Melcher of Marion, and Christopher Vinduska and friend Jeana of Wichita.

Shaina Makovec worked Monday night at the concession stand at the JV football game at Centre. Shaina accompanied the FFA to the State Fair in Hutchinson on Tuesday. The Gail Makovec family attended the Centre vs. St. Xavier game at Centre Friday evening. They attended the Fenske-Beausoleil wedding in Lincolnville Saturday afternoon and the reception and dance that followed at the Pilsen Community Center. The family attended the 50th wedding anniversary open house and reception in Tampa Sunday honoring Ruben and Lucille Kerbs.

Joe and Barbara Tajchman drove to Manhattan Saturday evening to attend the barbecue and awards dinner at the Doug Deets home honoring the recipients of the Jim Buchanan Memorial Scholarship of 2002. Their daughter, Jenna, was one of the recipients. Jenna spent Sunday with her parents, returning to Manhattan Sunday evening. Dr. Jessica, Anna, and Jordan Laurin were Sunday afternoon callers at the Tajchman home. Anna and Jordan stayed for supper and spent the evening with their grandparents.

Jennifer, Eli, Allie, and Luke Frasher of Wichita spent from Tuesday of last week until this morning (Monday) as houseguests of Joe and JoAnn Nowak. Jerry and Jerryn Nowak of Potwin were Friday guests of the Nowaks and their houseguests. Jan, Jorge, and Jakob Hanschu of Hillsboro were Saturday afternoon visitors. Kevin and Judy Steinborn and daughters called on Joe and JoAnn and their houseguests after Mass Sunday and were their breakfast guests.

Rosalie and Wendy Rudolph attended the wedding of Jay Fenske and Rachel Beausoleil Saturday afternoon. Rosalie, Wendy and Jim attended the supper and dance that evening at the Pilsen Community Center.

Elva Holub and Marguerite Jirak visited Millie Vinduska on Thursday. Cindy Jirak Mueller, Marguerite Jirak, and Millie's niece Michelle Molner of Seattle, Wash., visited her on Friday. The group visited Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Vinduska Friday evening. Barbara Svoboda visited Millie on Saturday.

Not sure what is causing this, but one week I call Ruby Holub Ruby Vinduska and last week I called Sylvia Bezdek Sylvia Holub. I understand Paulette Holub got quite a chuckle out of this boo boo. Anyway this proves to me that people are reading the Pilsen News and it also proves to me that no one has come forward to take my place, so you'll have to take me for what I mean and not for what I type. OK?

Marcia Mathias of Herington Livestock Auction entertained the following ladies with dinner Thursday at Al's café in Lost Springs: Leona Anderson and Elinor Remy of Burdick, Kathy Castleberry and Nancy Hatterman of Herington, Emma Davidson of Hope, and Sylvia Bezdek of Lost Springs.

Paulette Holub and Sylvia Bezdek visited Kathy Svitak Sunday afternoon.

Patsy Waner attended the Neo-Century Club salad supper Monday evening at the Hilltop Manor activity center. It was the first meeting of the club's year. George and Patsy returned home late Monday afternoon after spending the weekend in Shawnee, Okla., with Dr. David and Mary Kay Holland, Matthew and Katie.
