Pilsen: Living Center thanks its volunteers

Amelia Vinduska, Magdalen Dvorak, Teresa and Cassidy Hill, and yours truly were among those who attended the volunteer appreciation luncheon Wednesday at St. Luke Living Center.
Magdalen Dvorak attended the piano recital presented by students of Anita Hancock. Kara Druse was one of the participants.
Jakob and Jorge Hanschu were Thursday overnight and Friday guests of their grandparents, Joe and JoAnn Nowak. Kevin and Judy Steinborn and daughters and Cole and Bryanna Svoboda visited with Joe and JoAnn after Mass Sunday. Later Joe and JoAnn visited John and Judy Nowak and family in Inman. They were celebrating Jonah's fifth birthday.
Larry and Donna Erpelding of Manhattan brought dinner and spent the day visiting John Spachek. They also brought some bedding plants, which they planted in front of our church. Thanks. John will give them his tender loving care.
Terry and Cindy Vinduska spent the weekend in Manhattan visiting their daughter Jill. While there, they attended the K-State spring football scrimmage.
Terry Vinduska and Monte, Ross, and Daniel Stuchlik attended the 3I Show in Great Bend on Thursday.
Carole Sklenar visited me Sunday evening.
Ed and Gemma Davies were Sunday dinner guests of Millie and Lillie Vinduska.
Jenna Tajchman went to Manhattan Sunday with the Centre FFA where she attended the state FFA contests and was one of the judges.
Barbara and Jenna Tajchman attended Jenna's athletic banquet at Centre Monday evening.
Lloyd and Carole Sklenar and Dustin Stevens accompanied Darla Schroeder, Arika and Chelsie Schroeder, and Kevin Searl, all of Newton, to Wichita Friday night and attended the KFDI listener appreciation night at Century II. Kevin Searl, Darla Kasper, and Larry Burkholder were Sunday afternoon visitors of the Sklenars and Dustin.
Irene Tajchman was a Saturday afternoon guest at the home of Dale and Emma Davidson and sons. They were celebrating Dwight's eighth birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wesley of Salina visited with Lou and Ruby Vinduska Sunday afternoon. Rosemary Neuwirth was an additional caller.
Amelia Vinduska accompanied Margaret Jirak to Mass in Marion Monday. They visited with residents at Marion Manor later in the morning.
Dennis Klenda, Tyler Klenda, Ken and Bonnie Vinduska, Rosemary Neuwirth, Dr. Eugene Vinduska, and Dylan Svitak called on Amelia Vinduska during the week. Visitors on Sunday were Margie, Arthur, Robert, and Kelli Stroda, Emily Staatz, Elaine Carpentier, Bob and Rosemary Neuwirth, and Terry Klenda.
Mary Lou Kroupa accompanied Joni Smith of Overland Park to Hutchinson last Saturday to hear the State 5A High School Symphony Orchestra perform. Ashley, who plays a viola, is a member of the orchestra and traveled by bus to Hutchinson with other members of the orchestra. Joni and Ashley were Saturday overnight guests of Edmund and Mary Lou.
Pilsen Knights of Columbus sponsored a pancake and sausage breakfast in the church dining room after Mass Sunday.
There will be an open house at our newly-redecorated St. John Nep. Church from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday Please feel free to attend.
Teresa and Cassidy Hill visited at the St. Luke Living Center on Tuesday. The MOM's group does this on a monthly basis. Teresa and children picked up Hazel Clothier in Florence Thursday evening and drove to Newton to attend the annual Co-Op supper at Newton High School. The Kevin Hill family attended the potluck supper Sunday evening at the Cedar Point Community Church. A singspiration followed the meal.
Jim and Wendy Rudolph attended the bowling tournament in Marion. The tournament was especially for those who had rolled a 500 or 600 during the regular season.
George and Kathleen Oborny and David and Sam Oborny and family attended the confirmation services at St. Mary's in Salina. Hillary Blue was one of the confirmants. Sam was her sponsor. Barbara and Willie Rodriquez of Hutchinson visited the George Obornys Sunday afternoon.
In visiting with Ruby Holub she said she recently returned from Tucson, Ariz., where she visited her brother, Harold Thomas and his wife Rosina.
Randy, and Kathy Svitak and Irene Finley drove to Manhattan Thursday and visited Damien. Damien gave them a tour of the horticulture greenhouse. Damien is enrolled in horticulture studies. After the tour, Damien and Jenni joined the Svitaks and Irene for dinner. Randy and Kathy attended the dance at The Renegades Saturday evening. It was "happy birthday time" at the Svitak home Sunday. Those who were helping Shane celebrate were Jennifer Schmidt, Bob and Irene Finley, George and Charlene Svitak, Terry and Linda Schmidt of Marion, and Damien Svitak and Jenni Stevens of Manhattan.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ehlers of Newton accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Steiner to Halstead where they attended the confirmation of Melanie Ehlers, daughter of Louis and Darlene Ehlers, at Sacred Heart church. The group enjoyed dinner together, then spent the afternoon visiting.
Shaina Makovec is a cast member of the all-school play at Centre, which will be presented May 18. Marissa says that practice is held almost every evening. Marissa drove to Haven Tuesday to attend Shaina's track meet. Shaina took fourth in the hurdles. Shaina attended the state FFA contest in Manhattan Sunday. The Gail Makovec family and Jane Makovec attended the athletic banquet Monday evening at Centre. Shaina received a cheerleading award. Simon received a football award, the Most Valuable Football Player Award, and All-League Football Second Team Defense Award.
George and Patsy Waner attended Grandparents' Day Monday at Claire Buckendahl's pre-school in Wichita. Before returning home, they enjoyed lunch with Ann and Claire at The Border.
Pat and Dean Bina drove to Burrton Sunday and enjoyed eating out. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nelson visited Dean and Pat on Monday.
