Pilsen pilgrimage is planned
Archdiocese for the military services-USA will present the first annual pilgrimage to Pilsen on Nov. 11, Veterans Day, to honor Father Emil Kapaun.
A pontifical liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Church, Holy Family Parish, at Pilsen. Presiding at the liturgy will be Bishop Francis Roque, auxiliary to the military archbishop.
Special prayers will be said for the beatification (sainthood) of Father Kapaun.
Military honors and a wreath laying ceremony will follow the liturgy at the Father Emil Kapaun Memorial on the church grounds.
Father Kapaun was a military chaplain and a priest from Pilsen. He died as a prisoner of war in North Korea and was recognized as a war hero.
The event is open to the public but a special invitation is extended to veterans.
