Pilsen: Vinduskas mark 30th anniversary of triple wedding years ago

Do you remember Sept. 30, 1972? Three daughters of Bob and Millie Vinduska were married in St. John Nepomucene Church — a triple wedding! Bob did a great job of escorting his daughters — Kay, Carol, and Laurie — one at a time to the altar.

Millie and Lillie Vinduska, Joe, Tish, and Mark Vinduska, Bob Vinduska, and Laura Howard drove to Rose Hill Saturday evening to help Kay and David Tharp celebrate their anniversary with their immediate family and many friends.

Carol and Clarence Sponsel celebrated in Wichita, along with their immediate family and many friends.

Laurie and Ron Collins, who live in North Dakota, also celebrated with their immediate family and many friends in North Dakota. Two of their sons were not able to attend as they are serving in the U.S. Army.

Sylvia Bezdek treated me to lunch last Monday at the Pizza Hut in Marion. Sylvia, Paulette Holub, and Marcia Falen went to Hutchinson on Wednesday. Sylvia attended the Herington Knights of Columbus BLT luncheon after Mass Sunday.

John Spachek spent the weekend in Eureka with Ron and Barbara Myers.

Rosalie and Wendy Rudolph were in the parade Saturday on the Marion Women's Bowling Association float. Jim, Rosalie and Wendy attended the dance at the Saddle Club in Marion Saturday evening. They were celebrating Jim's birthday.

Carolyn, Don, and Mike Merrian of Overbrook and Darlene, Dick, and Cecilia Nancarrow of Overland Park were weekend guests of Margaret and Ed Vinduska. They came especially to attend class reunions and to meet classmates even though their class was not "celebrating."

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Silhan drove to Goddard Sunday to attend the 50th wedding anniversary celebration honoring Daniel and Bernadine Wells. The celebration was held at the Wells' home. Therese was junior bridesmaid when Daniel and Bernadine were married. The Silhans visited with her sister and husband Rose and Don Kramer in Wichita later in the afternoon.

Let it be known that many of my contacts for the Pilsen News attended the parade in Marion Saturday. Therefore, the outstanding crowd!!!

Amelia Vinduska accompanied Margaret Jirak to Mass in Marion Monday morning after which they visited residents at Marion Manor. Amelia and Magdalen Dvorak led crafts at St. Luke Living Center Tuesday. Amelia accompanied John Spachek to Mass in Tampa Friday. Margie Stroda, Emily Staatz, Ken Vinduska, John Spachek, George Svitak and Leona Loney visited Amelia during the week and Margie and Arthur Stroda visited after Mass Sunday.

Kathy and Terry Silhan visited with Bob and Oma Lou Mushrush near Elmdale Saturday evening and enjoyed supper at the Mushrush Ranch.

Magdalen Dvorak accompanied Karen and Kara Druse to Hillsboro Friday evening to attend the Hillsboro vs. Ellinwood football game. Michael Vinduska is a member of the Ellinwood team, which by the way won the game!

Marlene Clayton, Maggie Vinduska and Magdalen drove to Baldwin City Saturday to attend the football game where another of Magdalen's grandsons, Joseph Vinduska is a member of the team. They went on to Lawrence and were overnight guests of Maggie Vinduska in Emporia.

Virgil Kroupa and daughter Kathy of Wichita visited Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa Saturday afternoon. Edmund and Mary Lou visited Irene Novak on Sunday at Hillsboro.

John and Marlene Goentzel attended John's 25th MHS class reunion Saturday evening. The dinner was held at the Florence American Legion hall.

Darla and Kaylee Kasper and Kevin Searl were Saturday guests at the Lloyd Sklenar home. It was workday on the farm. Carole Sklenar, along with the rest of the Butler Community College astronomy class, visited the Lake Afton Observatory on Wednesday. The Sklenars visited at the Russell Schroeder home Sunday where they celebrated Chelsie's 10th birthday.

Kathy and Randy Svitak attended the party honoring Bob Makovec on his 60th birthday at Renegades in Lincolnville.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bina enjoyed lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nelson after the Old Settlers' Day Parade.

I spoke to Maxine Svitak tonight and she said she is "getting along." Her visitors during the week included Ida and Eddie Svitak, Fred Silhan, Staci Thurston, Meggan and Geoff Daniel, Terry and Kathy Silhan, Christy and Wes Hiebert of Newton, Karen and Bob Konarik, and Shelba, Dylon and Ashleigh Svitak.

Father Paul Oborny of McPherson enjoyed dinner with his brother, George Oborny, at noon today, Monday.

Vernie Base of Smolan and her son Jerod of McPherson visited at the George Oborny home Sunday .

Verna Vinduska enjoyed dinner at the home of her daughter Ann Malone of Wichita. Verna says she had a great evening visiting with her five daughters who also were dinner guests at the Malone home.

Mr. and Mrs. George Svitak visited with their son Doug last Tuesday.

James and Vee Waner of Clear Lake, Iowa, were visitors of George and Patsy Waner last Saturday afternoon. George and James are brothers. Patsy enjoyed dinner Thursday evening with other members of the St. Mark's quilters at Al's Café in Lost Springs. Other members attending were Lorraine Havlik, Vickie Kraus, Jane Makovec, Leona Manhart, Vicki Smolik, Gemma Davies, and Shirley Mans. Members unable to attend were Alice Meysing and Marie Navrat.

Patsy Waner and Vernie Konecny attended the "70 years" birthday party of the girls of MHS Class of 1950, hosted at the farm of Patsy Hett Frazier.

George and Patsy Waner attended the Waner family reunion Sunday afternoon. It was hosted at the farm of Robert and Dian (Waner) Rusk located east of Florence. Other committee members who helped organize the event in addition to the Rusks were David and Tena Waner and Barb Waner Lundberg.

Lavada Holub was in charge of the wedding reception for Stephanie Holub and Quinn Tucker Jr. Saturday afternoon at St. Mary's Catholic School in Newton. LaVada also attended the dinner and dance that followed.

A family dinner was hosted by Ruby Holub for Heather Holub, daughter of Ron and Dan Holub, who has joined the Army and is leaving Wednesday. Guests included Tim and Crystal Holub and family of Cheney, Frank, Vera, and Chip Holub of Halstead, and Dan and Ron Holub and family.

The Gail Makovec family attended the Tampa Triple T's 4-H meeting last Monday. Shaina Makovec cheered at the Centre volleyball game at White City Tuesday evening and Thursday she worked at the concession stand sponsored by the Centre sophomore class during the Centre Junior High football game.

Herman and Audry Kukuk of Perry, Okla., came Friday to spend the weekend with the Gail Makovec family. The Makovecs and Kukuks attended the birthday party Saturday night honoring Bob Makovec at Renegades in Lincolnville. The Gail Makovec family, Jane Makovec, the Herman Kukuks, and the Ron Makovec family enjoyed dinner together Sunday at Butch's Café, Tampa. Hey, Renee I know how old and the date of your birthday. Of course, I won't tell anyone unless they ask!

Enjoying dinner together Sunday at Butch's Café in Tampa were Terry and Cindy Vinduska, Becky and Dean Routh and daughters of Augusta, Lynn, Amanda, and Nicholas Kleiber of Tampa, Melissa and Daniel Stuchlik of Wichita, Jill Vinduska and Armando Terrin of Manhattan, and Leona Kleiber. They were celebrating Leona's birthday. Cake and ice cream were served at Leona's home later in the afternoon.

Robert and Karen Konarik walked in the Old Settlers' Day parade with the Flint Hills Muzzle Loaders. They attended the birthday party honoring Robert Makovec in the evening.
