Police investigate a child battery case
Marion police officers investigated minor accidents and a child battery case.
Jan. 31: A non-injury accident was investigated. A report of a vehicle hitting a traffic cone in the Highland Street area was investigated; a juvenile suspect was interviewed. A 911 hang up was checked in the 500 block of South Cedar Street; everything was OK.
Tuesday: A non-injury accident near Coble and Nickerson intersection was investigated. An officer met with a subject regarding the compliance date of a junk vehicle.
Wednesday: An officer attended a meeting at Emmanuel Baptist Church regarding emergency shelters. A welfare check was conducted in the 300 block of South Lincoln Street. A non-injury accident was investigated in Marion Elementary School parking lot.
Thursday: A possible theft was investigated in the 500 block of South Cedar Street; determined it was not a theft. A junk vehicle complaint was investigated in the 300 block of Locust Street. A funeral escort was provided. Emergency medical personnel were assisted with an ambulance run. A warning was issued for an abandoned vehicle. An investigation was conducted of a child battery case. Assistance was provided with a prisoner at Marion County Jail.
Friday: Assistance was provided to a resident who had fallen in their residence; resident was taken to hospital for examination. Vehicle identification number inspections were provided Three warnings were issued for parking in a no parking zone and a warning issued for parking in a crosswalk at Marion High School. A warning was issued for a defective headlight. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro police officers with a domestic disturbance call; subject was arrested and transported to St. Luke Hospital and the county jail.
Saturday: A harassment complaint was taken. A warning was issued for excessive noise from a vehicle's stereo.
Sunday: An officer responded to a business alarm; everything was OK. A subject met with an officer regarding a civil standby. An officer was unable to locate a reported subject riding a bicycle in the dark on U.S.-56 near North Cedar Street.
Officers drove 617 miles and issued five warning citations.
