Police investigate domestic violence incidents
Marion police investigated two incidents of domestic battery in a two-week period.
In the most recent case, shortly before midnight Aug. 4, a 33-year-old Marion woman allegedly was battered by her husband. According to the police report, he became angry, picked up his wife and threw her into a chair, hurting her back.
He then choked the woman until she nearly lost consciousness, according to the report. He then struck her in the back of the head while she was holding her infant child, she told police.
He reportedly hit her so hard that her head was forced upward, striking the child's head and causing a bump there. The man then reportedly punched his wife in the face repeatedly.
She had bruises on her back, hip, and arms. The right side of her face and her right eye were slightly swollen, officers reported.
She left the area with her children and went to consult with a doctor and a hospital.
In the earlier case, about 2:30 p.m. July 21, a 38-year-old Marion woman allegedly was battered by her domestic partner (also a woman) after an argument.
She was choked, broke away and repeatedly asked the person to leave. The person gathered some personal belongings and left. Minutes later, she returned and found the front door locked.
When the woman would not permit the other woman to enter, she physically forced the door open and broke the inside door frame. Glass in a storm door also was broken. They argued some more, and the intruder again attacked the woman and choked her, according to the police report.
She broke away, grabbed her child, and went outdoors. The suspect then took a small wooden object and threw it at her, breaking it. She then left the area.
Police estimated the damage at $75.
