Proposal makes sense

Congressman Jerry Moran's proposal for legislation that would allow the Veterans Administration to pay for vets in rural areas to receive routine health benefits at home makes sense.

Not only would veterans be better served, without needless waiting time, but the economy of rural towns would be improved.

Today, the VA is so backlogged with veterans on the waiting list for benefits, that they are giving up. They can't wait several months to see a physician or for medication.

Under Moran's proposal, veterans could visit local clinics, be treated in local hospitals, and receive drugs from local pharmacies. The VA would provide funding, which probably would be no more costly than the present system.

Veterans would receive quicker service, not have to drive long distances, and rural areas would benefit from the business.

Again, Congressman Moran has led the way to a solution for a serious problem. His proposal should be approved in Washington and veterans across the nation should appreciate our congressman from Kansas.
