Ramona Festival of Lights is Saturday

Ramona is just a small town, with a population of approximately 100, but at this time of year, they do more than their share of spreading holiday cheer.

The public is invited to Ramona from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening to enjoy the Festival of Lights.

The suggested route is a drive down Main Street, then left on 4th Street at Cousin's Corner Bed and Breakfast, proceed to the park, turn right, and drive slowly past the live nativity, complete with a singing angel.

Follow the lights around town, enjoy the displays, and wind up the evening at the Ramona Café for a cup of coffee and a piece of Marlene's famous pie!

Shepherds this year are father and son duos featuring Steve and Jacob Jirak, A.J. and Cole Svoboda, and Lynn and Nick Kleiber. Mary and Joseph are portrayed by Chet and Shelia Mercer and the wise men from the east include newcomers Terry McRae who recently moved into town from Wisconsin and Don Matkins from Salina. Longtime resident Jeannie Weber is going to be the first-ever wise woman.

The Festival of Lights is sponsored this year by local merchants offering a prize to the loveliest light display in Ramona.
